CAE Oxford Aviation Academy is proud to partner Indigo in the delivery of well-trained Pilots. Selected cadets will train at CAE Oxford Aviation Academy, Gondia.. This self-sponsored Program designed by CAE and IndiGo to enable you to train for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), UPRT (upset prevention and recovery training) and an Airbus A320 Type Rating with CAE OAA before going on to fly as an A320 First Officer with Indigo.

    TRAINING PROGRAM

The unique IndiGo Cadet Pilot program is specifically designed for individuals with no previous flying experience who would like to embark on a career as a pilot. The program comprises three phases of training:

PHASE 1: Ground Theory & Flight Training

This phase provides the cadets with the training required to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with a Multi-Engine Instrument rating (MEIR) and to complete the required Multi-Engine piloting experience.

Cadets will first undertake 615 hours of theoretical knowledge training and flight training for the CPL, MEIR at our Academy in Gondia.

PHASE 2: Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)

Upon graduation from the DGCA CPL training program at NFTI for cadets in the Domestic Pathway, Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) must be completed prior to the commencement of the A320 type rating. This additional training can be completed in 3-4 days and will be conducted at an overseas facility designated by NFTI and approved by IndiGo. NFTI will assist the cadet with making these arrangements.

    PHASE 3: Type Rating

Once the cadets have obtained their CPL and UPRT, they move on to the Type Rating (TR) training phase to qualify as a co-pilot on the Airbus A320 aircraft. Type rating training will be conducted at one of CAE’s global network of training Centers such as Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid or Dubai.

Note: The duration of the CPL training is planned at 17 months, which comprises theoretical knowledge training, followed by practical flying training. UPRT and the Airbus A320 type rating is planned at an additional 2 and half months. However, DGCA licensing, scheduling, cadet performance, weather, and any other delays will extend the duration of the cadet program.
